HAJJAH, YEMEN, 26th April, 2017 (WAM)--Yemen National Army units, supported by the Saudi-led Arab Coalition backing the legitimate government, has advanced towards the Hayran district of the Hajjah Governorate in northwestern Yemen, after liberating the northern and eastern neighbourhoods of the Red Sea port city of Midi, Yemen's state news agency Saba reported on Wednesday.
Yemen National Army liberated the strategic Tabbat al-Kamahiya area and nearby positions in Midi in the past 24 hours. The soldiers are at the gates of nearby Hayran district and have closed in on Midi, Saba quoted Staff Major General Omar Sajjaf, Commander of the 5th Military Zone.
The rebel militias can only surrender or die after Midi was surrounded by the National Army and some of its northern and eastern neighbourhoods were recaptured, he said.
Heavy human and material losses were inflicted on the rebels while the National Army is steadily advancing to achieving quick victories on the ground, Sajjaf noted. WAM/MMYS
