(MENAFN- The Peninsula) In the drive to promote Qatari products across local, regional and global markets, Qatar Development Bank (QDB) participated along with 13 leading Qatari companies in Arabplast 2017 held at Dubai World Trade Center from January 8 to 10.
Through the support of its export arm, ‘Tasdeer', QDB showcased the Qatari manufacturers at the nation's designated marquee, the Qatar Pavilion.
The convention which includes exhibitors and visitors participation from across Asia, Europe and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries is tipped as the biggest plastics, petrochemicals and rubber industry exhibition in the MENA region and the third of its kind in the world. The list of local manufacturers that partook in Arabplast 2017 included: Al Amoudi Plastic Factory, Al Jattal Industry, Al Sada Factory for Plastic Pipes, Asima Plastic Factory, Behzad Plastics Products, Chem-Tech International Factory, Doha Plastic, Doha Regional Plastic Solutions, Qatar Integrated Plastic Bags Factory, Qatar Plastic Products Company, Qatar Polymer Industrial Company, Sarplast and Twyla.
Executive Director for Tasdeer, QDB's export programme, Hassan Khalifa Al Mansoori said: "One of our key strategic goals at QDB is to facilitate local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by providing them with access to regional and global markets—an example of this was the participation of Qatari companies in this year's international exhibition, Arabplast 2017. We aim to orchestrate our efforts in a way that will meaningfully advance the national development agenda and achieve economic diversification through providing our local SMEs the leverage of international exposure, as envisioned in Qatar National Vision 2030."
He added: "This maiden participation at Arabplast 2017 signals our dedication to invigorating foreign trade and increasing cooperation between national and foreign companies through opening new markets for local businesses. Tasdeer frequently partakes in international exhibitions and determinedly upholds the central organizational objective of placing Qatari products across shelves in the global marketplace.
Held biennially, the Arabplast exhibition includes the participation of specialists from across the plastics, petrochemicals and rubber industries of the world.
In 2017, the participation of exhibitors from just India, Taiwan and Germany was projected to have reached 110, 95, and 70 respectively. During its last edition, the convention surpassed its own records by achieving a participation of more than 900 exhibitors from 41 countries and receiving over 27,000 visitors from 119 nations.
