Qatar takes good care of Lebanese expats: Aoun


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Lebanese President General Michel Aoun yesterday expressed his satisfaction over the official talks that took place during his visit to Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Aoun left Doha yesterday, wrapping up a two-day official visit.
Aoun said that he could feel through his visits to Riyadh and Doha the great respect for the Lebanese people, especially those who contribute to the urban development in the Gulf states.
The Lebanese President added that all the common issues discussed with the officials from Saudi Arabia and Qatar found clear support, adding that the agreements reached during the visits will be points of discussion in future mutual ministerial visits and a rebirth to joint committees that work on developing bilateral relations.
Addressing a gathering of the Lebanese community in Qatar earlier on Wednesday, Aoun praised the care, attention and favourable working conditions enjoyed by the Lebanese community in Qatar.
He said that his visit to the region was aimed at restoring relations in an atmosphere of serenity, love and mutual respect, stressing that all the indicators at the beginning of this era show that Lebanon has taken the right path.
He pointed out that the increasing number of visitors to Lebanon recently was the biggest proof of the return of confidence in the Lebanese situation.
President Aoun expressed hope that trade relations between Lebanon and the countries of the region would be regular saying that "Lebanon is now witnessing an upswing in the commercial, economic and industrial sectors and this would restore prosperity and development to the country."
He stressed that the Lebanese leadership is currently focusing on building a state that respects the law and is working to achieve the fundamental objectives of promoting trade and industry, tourism and the exploration of natural resources.
The Lebanese President and the accompanying delegation were seen off at the Hamad International Airport yesterday by the Minister of Finance H E Ali Sharif Al Emadi, Qatar's Ambassador to Lebanon Ali bin Hamad Al Marri and Lebanon's Ambassador to Qatar Hassan Qassim Najem. → Picture on page 2
