Morocco Produces Record 128,000 Tons of Dates in 2016


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Morocco produced record 128,000 tons of dates in 2016, a 16 percent increase compared to 2015, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.

The date sector contributes 40-60 percent to the agricultural income for more than 2 million people, creates 1.6 million working days per year for the rural population in the most fragile regions of Morocco, and represent nearly 40 percent of the national territory.
