Jordan, Palestine discuss peace revival efforts


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, June 15 (KUNA) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan reiterated his country''s support of peace revival efforts and commitment to overcome all difficulties facing the relaunch of peace negotiations based on the two-state solution.

King Abdullah made his remarks Wednesday while meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the Jordanian capital, reiterating the Kingdom''s tireless efforts in protecting Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem, Jordanian Royal Court said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the two sides stressed the importance of continued coordination between them at various international arenas, and addressed issues related to the Palestinian cause, peace talks, and recent situation developments in the region.

President Abbas expressed his appreciation to the Jordanian King''s effort in supporting the Palestinian people, cause, and fair rights, commending the supportive stands of the Kingdom''s leadership, government, and people by the Palestinians in various situations.

He also paid tribute to King Abdullah''s endeavors to safeguard Jerusalem and its holy shrines. (end) ab.ma
