ICAI Muscat Chapter holds seminar on Oman budget

The Sohar sub-committee of Muscat Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI) organised its first CPE event of 2016 in Jindal Shadeed hall in Sohar on Friday on the theme of 'Oman budget corporate governance and growth'.
The event was inaugurated by N Sreedhar chairman of ICAI Muscat Chapter and Ramesh Mani CEO Majan Glass by lightning of lamp along with other dignitaries of ICAI Muscat and Sohar sub-committee. Award for ICAI Best Overseas Chapter for 2016 which was recently received by ICAI Muscat Chapter in New Delhi was also put on display to all the members. C A Meenakashi Sundaram tax director of KPMG Oman expressed his views on Oman's ninth five year plan and 2016 budget. He also presented ongoing and future actions of the Government of Oman to increase its non-oil revenue. C A Sandeep Kunte director risk advisory and consulting at Moore Stephens Oman made a presentation on Corporate Governance and highlighted salient features as well as his views on recently announced code of Corporate Governance which will be applicable to public joint stock companies from July 2016. C A Avinash Patodia CFO Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel LLC Oman enlightened the members with the Theory of Constraints (TOC) and explained its process. Considering the current challenging economic situation. Patodia emphasised that the proper implementation of the theory in an organisation can bring relief to certain extent. The programme was organised by Sohar Sub Committee lead by C A Ravi Deora C A Utsav Bansal C A Ravishanker under the sponsorship of Jindal Shadeed and Al Nahdha.It was hosted by C A Navin Kumar.
