(MENAFN) Parsons, the American engineering, construction, technical, and management services firm has gained a deal to deliver the front-end engineering design (FEED) for a huge 1,021-megawatt solar thermal park in Oman.
The USD600 million park is mutually developed by petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and GlassPoint Solar Inc. at the Amal oilfield in south Oman, and Parsons comes in to provide the basic engineering for the preliminary building phases.
The project will contain a large number of parabolic trough mirrors that will capture solar thermal energy to create the massive quantities of steam necessary to heat the reservoir to stimulate the flow of heavy crude to production wells.
"Parsons is pleased to be engaged in the front-end engineering of Miraah, which is being built in modular blocks that will be completed and commissioned in succession," stated the international US-based engineering giant.
