Thousands Demonstrate in Taiz to Reject Houthis Presence
(MENAFN- QNA) Thousands of citizens from Taiz, South of the Yemeni capital Sana'a took to the streets to reject the presence of Houthi militants or any other armed militias in the city.
The demonstrators roamed the main streets of the city as part of a campaign organized by the movement "rejection" and launched by young activists. They carried signs and banners rejecting the presence of Houthi militants in the city and state institutions because of threats made by some leaders of the Houthi group to break into the governorate and their insistence to swell into all northern provinces, demanding the army and security forces to counter any attempts by Houthis to storm the city, and to play their national role in promoting security and stability and in spreading the state's authority in all the governorates of the country.
The demonstration came after Houthi group leaders' moves to mobilize supporters to storm Taiz governorate, and put pressure on local authorities to form popular committees similar to those in the capital Sana'a and a number of provinces now under their control.
