(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Syrian deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Miqdad on Saturday stressed his government's keenness to cooperate with the UN in the humanitarian domain, but the UN must respect Syria's Sovereignty and unity.
Al-Miqdad stressed in a press statement that the UN must ensure that humanitarian aid must be delivered to Syrian people and not to armed groups.
This decision comes at a time when the UN Security Council plans to discuss a draft resolution next Monday on the humanitarian aid delivery to Syria from border crossings controlled by the armed groups without government approval, he added.
Russia yesterday said it would vote in favor of the draft resolution, which authorizes the use of four border crossings with Turkey, Jordan and Iraq to provide humanitarian assistance to the Syrians.
