Pakistan's first envoy to UAE passes away

he is survived by his wife two daughters and a son.

his funeral prayers were held at shaikh khalifa hospital’s mosque on tuesday afternoon and the body was buried at the bani yas graveyard.

a large number of community members; pakistan’s current ambassador to the uae asif durrani; and officials of pakistan missions attended his funeral prayers.

hasan arrived in abu dhabi as pakistan’s trade commissioner in late 1960s. later in 1971 when the uae became a federation he was appointed the first ambassador to the uae a post he served till 1976.

his illustrious stint in abu dhabi saw exchange of several high-profile visits and signing of bilateral agreements in different fields.

speaking to khaleej times dr hameeda his wife who works for abu dhabi’s corniche hospital described him as “a great man”.

one of his friends sultan pasha recalling his association with him spanning over 43 years said uddin hasan was one of the finest men he has ever met.

paying rich tributes to the departed soul durrani described him as one of the finest diplomat pakistan had produced who built the foundations of a time-tested and fraternal friendship between the two countries.

he was a diplomat who served both the uae and pakistan with distinction and would be admired in both the countries for his services.
