Moci Announces Phased Update Of Commercial Activities For Existing Companies

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has launched an update to the registered commercial activities of existing companies in accordance with the Unified Economic Guide for the Classification of Economic Activities in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Effective June 1, 2026, the initiative aims to further unify classifications, improve data quality, and enhance transparency in the business environment, without affecting the nature of the activity or the commercial registration, the Ministry said.

The update will be implemented in three phases, beginning on June 1, June 15, and June 30, 2026.

The first phase will focus on updating the commercial activities of companies that have one specific activity corresponding to one specific activity under the Unified Classification of Economic Activities.

The second phase, scheduled for June 15, 2026, will update the commercial activities of companies that have one specific activity corresponding to multiple activities under the Unified Classification of Economic Activities.

The third phase, scheduled for June 30, 2026, will update the commercial activities of companies that have mixed activities, commercial and industrial, in accordance with the Unified Classification of Economic Activities.

The Ministry also clarified that the commercial activities will be updated automatically in accordance with the approved classifications.

Business owners are not required to take any action, and the update will have no impact on the nature of the activity or the commercial registration.
