Anti-Terror Operation Enters Day 9 In Rajouri Forests

(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- A massive anti-terror operation in the forested areas of Rajouri district entered its ninth day on Sunday, with security forces continuing an extensive search for terrorists believed to be hiding in the dense forests of the Manjakote sector.

The operation, codenamed Operation Sheruwali, is being carried out in the Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal areas following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the region.

Officials said security forces have intensified the search operation, deploying additional reinforcements and logistical support in the rugged and heavily forested terrain. Personnel from the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are jointly participating in the operation.

To bolster the search effort, para commandos have been inducted into the operation, while helicopters are being used for aerial surveillance. Sniffer dogs have also been deployed to track possible terrorist movement through the thick forest cover.

According to officials, two to three terrorists are suspected to be trapped within the cordoned-off area. Security forces have established a strict security grid around the forest belt and sealed all suspected escape routes.

The operation has witnessed repeated contacts and intermittent exchanges of fire over the past several days, though the terrorists have so far managed to evade detection.

Officials said extensive combing operations and deep searches are continuing under heightened surveillance, with forces maintaining a tight perimeter around the area.

They added that all available resources are being utilised to trace the terrorists and prevent any attempt to break out of the security cordon. The operation remains underway.
