Deadly Airstrike in Southern Lebanon Leaves Multiple Casualties

(MENAFN) At least eight people lost their lives and 19 others were wounded following an airstrike in southern Lebanon early Monday, according to official statements. The incident marks another reported breach of the existing ceasefire arrangement.

According to reports, the strike hit the town of Deir al-Zahrani in the Nabatieh governorate. Authorities said the fatalities included three women, while among those injured were six women and five children.

The latest attack follows a series of strikes carried out a day earlier across southern Lebanon, which reportedly left at least 12 people dead and dozens more injured.

Reports indicate that military operations have continued despite a ceasefire that came into effect on April 17. The truce was later extended for an additional 45 days starting on May 17 after indirect negotiations facilitated by the United States.

According to official figures, attacks carried out since March 2 have resulted in more than 3,400 deaths across Lebanon.
