Iraq Pledges Action Over Attacks Allegedly Launched from Its Territory
(MENAFN) Iraq has pledged to take firm measures against any individuals or groups found to be involved in attacks on Gulf countries if investigations confirm that Iraqi territory was used as a launch point, according to reports.
The directive was issued by Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi during a meeting of the Iraqi National Security Council, where officials reviewed recent regional security developments and ongoing investigations into cross-border incidents.
Government spokesperson Sabah al-Numan said the council emphasized that Iraq rejects the use of its territory or airspace for hostile operations against neighboring states and intends to respond decisively if responsibility is established.
The meeting also included discussions on reported attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, with a special investigative committee formed to coordinate with authorities in those countries.
Officials reiterated that Iraq will not tolerate actions that threaten regional stability or its own sovereignty, while reaffirming its commitment to preventing its territory from being used in ways that could endanger neighboring states.
The developments follow strong condemnation from Emirati officials, who accused armed groups of launching drone attacks from Iraqi territory and targeting critical infrastructure, including facilities in the Gulf region, according to reports.
