Iran Criticizes UN Over Failing to Respond to US Aggression

(MENAFN) Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations has strongly criticized the UN Security Council, accusing it of failing to respond to what he described as aggression involving the United States and Israel, according to reports.

Speaking before the council, Iranian envoy Amir Saeid Iravani argued that the body has not fulfilled its mandate to maintain international peace and security, claiming its response has been obstructed by a permanent member acting in bad faith, as stated by reports.

He further asserted that both the United States and Israel, along with those supporting them, should bear full legal responsibility for violations he characterized as serious breaches of international law. He warned that a lack of accountability undermines global stability and the victims of such actions.

The envoy also condemned what he described as repeated threats from US leadership toward Iran, arguing that such rhetoric contributes to escalating tensions and sets a dangerous precedent in international relations.

The remarks come amid heightened regional instability following earlier military exchanges involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, which included strikes, retaliatory actions, and maritime disruptions in strategic waterways.
