Culture And Creativity Serve As Powerful Drivers Of Global Economy - UNESCO Official


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19. Creative industries play a significant role in the global economy and employment, Denise Bax, Secretary of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN), said during a panel session titled "UNESCO Creative Cities and Sustainable Urban Development" held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Trend reports.

Bax noted that cultural and creative industries generate more than 3.4% of global GDP and account for approximately 3.6% of employment, with a significant portion of this activity concentrated in cities.

According to her, when integrated into urban planning and housing development policies, these sectors become not only engines of economic growth but also vital sources of resilience, empowerment, and social support for the population.

The third day of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) is underway in Baku.
