Arab League Chief Condemns Drone Attack On UAE Nuclear Power Plant
Cairo, May 17 (Petra) -- The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, on Sunday condemned a drone attack targeting the Barakah nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates, calling the assault a dangerous escalation to regional security.
Aboul Gheit stated that the blatant attack represents a flagrant violation of international law and international conventions protecting civilian nuclear infrastructure.
The Arab League chief expressed relief following statements by the UAE's Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation, which confirmed that a fire intercepted near the vicinity of the nuclear facility had been contained and did not affect the operational safety of the plant.
Aboul Gheit reaffirmed the Arab League's full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, supporting all sovereign measures taken by Abu Dhabi to safeguard its national security, stability, and vital economic assets.
