US Imposes Sanctions on Entities Accused of Supporting Iran’s Drones
(MENAFN) The United States has announced new sanctions targeting 10 individuals and companies accused of assisting Iran’s military procurement networks, particularly in relation to drone and missile development.
According to the US Treasury Department, the sanctioned entities include actors based in China and Hong Kong who are alleged to have facilitated the acquisition of materials used in Iran’s Shahed-series drones and ballistic missile programs.
Officials said the targeted networks are believed to have supported Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated organizations in obtaining aerospace components and other sensitive raw materials required for weapons production.
The Treasury Department stated that the measures are intended to disrupt Iran’s ability to rebuild its defense manufacturing capacity and to limit its capability to project military power beyond its borders.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the administration would continue taking economic action aimed at restricting foreign support for Iran’s military programs, framing the sanctions as part of broader efforts to protect US personnel and interests abroad.
The announcement reflects ongoing US pressure on Iran’s defense-related supply chains amid broader regional and geopolitical tensions.
