Doha, Qatar: A major step forward in Qatar's media and economic storytelling landscape was marked yesterday with the launch of Qatar Media Corporation's new specialized platform, Qatar Business Channel (QBC), unveiled in the presence of senior officials and media leaders.

Positioned as the country's first dedicated business television channel, QBC enters the market with high production standards, broadcasting in 4K and aiming to deliver comprehensive, real-time coverage of economic developments from Qatar to a global audience.

The channel is also accessible via the“Tabie” digital platform of QMC through live streaming, reflecting a broader push to expand digital reach and provide reliable, purpose-driven content to viewers across multiple platforms.

The launch aligns with Qatar Media Corporation's wider strategy to strengthen specialized media offerings that mirror national priorities and elevate professional standards. QBC is envisioned not only as a news outlet but as a strategic communication tool that showcases the country's economic progress and reinforces its position within regional and global markets.

Operating initially for 15 hours daily, from 9am to midnight, the channel dedicates nine hours to live broadcasting, with plans to transition to a full 24-hour schedule as part of its long-term growth strategy. Its programming lineup combines specialized news bulletins with in-depth analysis and timely reports covering key sectors, positioning the channel as a trusted reference point for investors, policymakers, and the general public.

Among its flagship programs is“Klakit,” which explores the business of cinema and the economic dimensions of the film industry.“Hiya Al Eqtisad” highlights the contributions of women in business, reflecting the growing role of female entrepreneurs, while“Al Meezan” focuses on legal and regulatory frameworks in Qatar and the Gulf. Another program,“360,” takes a deep dive into specific economic stories or issues, examining them from multiple perspectives.

Speaking to the media persons at the event, Supervisor of News and Programming Content at QBC Marwan Aboushanab underscored that the channel is built on a strong global newsgathering infrastructure, led by a network of more than 30 correspondents stationed across major Arab, international, and key economic capitals worldwide. This extensive presence, he said, ensures that economic developments are covered directly from the source, enhancing the channel's credibility and immediacy.

Aboushanab explained that the launch of a dedicated economic channel from Qatar reflects the country's growing influence on the global economic stage. He noted that Qatar has made significant investments across various media sectors, including political, diplomatic, sports, and entertainment media, achieving notable international reach. In light of the country's expanding economic footprint, Aboushanab emphasized the need for a specialized platform that communicates Qatar's economic story and amplifies its voice globally.

He highlighted the increasing public interest in economic affairs, pointing out that audiences today are more engaged with financial developments, market trends, and cost-of-living issues than ever before.

This shift, he said, makes the presence of a dedicated economic media platform both timely and essential.

While rooted in Qatar, Aboushanab said, QBC is positioned as a broader Arab and international platform, covering global economic issues while also shedding light on achievements across the Gulf and wider Arab region.

He said that the channel aims to play a constructive role in showcasing development projects and economic successes in Arab countries, contributing to a forward-looking narrative that reflects growth and opportunity across the region.

He outlined the channel's key distinguishing features, noting that QBC is among the first economic channels in the region to broadcast in 4K, supported by advanced visual engineering standards, and channel offers structured, hourly news bulletins, ensuring consistent and up-to-date coverage.

Aboushanab said that the channel's global reach is further strengthened through agreements with four leading international economic news agencies, providing access to critical data, market indicators, and breaking financial news from around the world.

On the domestic front, he emphasized the strong presence of Qatari talent across the channel's operations. From on-screen presenters to editorial teams and technical staff, QBC relies on a new generation of skilled Qatari professionals who contribute to both content creation and operational excellence.

He added that attracting and developing more Qatari talent remains a core component of the channel's strategy in the coming period, in line with Qatar's continued economic growth and its ambition to strengthen national expertise in specialized media.

Acting Director of News and Digital Media at QBC Dr. Sara Al-Dirham, described the channel's debut as a milestone for Qatari media. She stressed the centrality of economic discourse in today's interconnected world, noting that QBC's content strategy blends continuous news coverage with specialized programming designed to inform and engage diverse audiences.
