Oman Sail and Asyad Shipping reaffirm commitment to people with disabilities through relaunched Diveability Programme


(MENAFN- Oman Sail ) Muscat, 4 May 2026 – Oman Sail and Asyad Shipping have reaffirmed their long-term partnership to support people with disabilities through the relaunched Diveability Programme. Launched on 8 April 2026, the programme offers weekly sessions guiding participants from beginner level through to Open Water certification, aiming of enhance the physical and social well-being of people with disabilities through underwater activity.
Thirty candidates will have the opportunity to experience diving in a swimming pool, allowing them to engage with the sport in a safe environment and decide whether to progress further. Of these, 15 will advance to an open water experience at the Daymaniyat Islands, While, five participants will continue to complete the Open Water course, including an additional 15 dives. By the end of the programme, they will obtain an internationally-recognised PADI certification, enabling them to dive alongside others independently.
The programme will initially be delivered by PADI-qualified instructors from SeaOman at the Al Amal Club swimming pool before shifting to Oman Sail’s Al Mouj Sailing School for open water activities.

We have seen the benefits firsthand, and by continuing the Diveability Programme with the support of Asyad Shipping we are delighted to support more people to enjoy the water, learn new skills and build the capacity for a future career as an instructor.”
Abdulnasser Al Sinani, Diveability Coach, added, “Diveability has the potential to transform lives across the country by introducing people with disabilities to an activity they can do safely by providing an experience free of the limitations they live with on land. Activities in the water can also provide therapeutic benefits for those recovering from injury or trauma, as well as supporting physical exercise. We are excited to deliver another edition of the Diveability Programme and continue empowering people with disabilities to fulfil their potential.”

The feeling of being in the water is liberating and with the support of the friendly coaches I felt comfortable throughout the session. This programme can be life-changing for so many people and I look forward to learning more as it progresses.”
The Diveability Programme further reinforces Oman’s position as an inclusive diving destination and a regional hub for developing and sharing best practices for disabled diving while highlighting the therapeutic benefits of diving with medical professionals.
