Fraport Holds 2026 Forecasts Despite Mideast Disruptions

(MENAFN) According to reports, Fraport Group, the operator of Frankfurt Airport, has confirmed that it will maintain its financial targets for 2026 despite ongoing challenges linked to regional tensions in the Middle East and recent labour strikes affecting Lufthansa operations.

The company reported that its revenue increased by 5.2% year-on-year in the first quarter, reaching approximately $996.2 million. During the same period, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation rose by 10.4%, reaching about $229.1 million.

Passenger traffic at Frankfurt Airport also saw modest growth, with around 12.7 million travellers recorded in the first three months of the year, marking a 2.3% increase compared with the previous year. However, the operator noted that some flight disruptions involving Gulf destinations, linked to regional conflict, created short-term declines in traffic, which were partly offset by stronger demand for routes to Asia.

As stated by reports, Fraport is projecting total global passenger numbers between 188 and 195 million for the year, while Frankfurt Airport alone is expected to handle around 65 to 66 million passengers. The company also continues to anticipate an improvement in adjusted operating profit, targeting approximately $1.7 billion.

Management indicated that stable jet fuel supply remains a key factor in achieving these projections. While concerns persist about possible disruptions linked to Gulf supply routes, company leadership noted that current assurances from German authorities support confidence in fuel availability.

German officials have stated that domestic kerosene reserves and supply levels are sufficient to cover several weeks of demand, helping to reduce immediate concerns over shortages.

Industry observers also noted that although only a portion of Germany’s aviation fuel originates from the Middle East, disruptions in parts of Asia could still have indirect effects on flight operations and return routes.
