Punjab Congress Chief Warring Slams CM Mann Over President Meet, Questions AAP's Credibility

(MENAFN- IANS) Chandigarh, May 5 (IANS) Punjab Congress President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, questioning the intent behind his meeting with President Droupadi Murmu. He also accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of political hypocrisy and betrayal of its core principles.

Reacting to the Chief Minister's recent outreach to the President, Warring said such meetings would not alter the ground realities in Punjab. "Nothing is really going to change just because the Chief Minister meets the President. This is an attempt to hide his own decisions and the failures of the AAP government," he said.

The Congress leader alleged that the ruling party had resorted to diversionary tactics while simultaneously targeting its political opponents. "On one hand, they are calling others traitors and making allegations, but on the other, they are indulging in the same practices," he added.

Warring cited examples of political leaders from different parties, including candidates from Taran Taran and Jalandhar, who eventually joined the AAP ranks. "Wasn't it the BJP and AAP that started this trend? Leaders from other parties were brought in and given tickets, contradicting their claims of clean politics," he said.

He further accused the AAP government of favouring a select group of industrialists at the cost of the common people. "You decided to favour four industrialists and make the wealthy even richer. The entire Punjab is questioning these decisions," Warring remarked, adding that the party had abandoned the volunteers who once formed its backbone.

Targeting AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, Warring said his actions had raised serious questions about political credibility. "At least reflect on what AAP has done for you. A young colleague, who was once unknown, was given a major identity by the party. State resources - from official vehicles to government accommodation and security - were used," he alleged.

In a strongly worded remark towards Chadha, Warring said that political decisions taken in recent times would have long-term consequences. "No matter how big a leader you become, your inner voice will remind you of your actions. What has been done has raised a lifelong question mark on credibility, especially among the youth," he said.

While distancing himself from AAP's internal decisions, Warring maintained that the party's choices, including elevating certain politicians and aligning with influential industrialists, had eroded public trust.
