Drone Strike Sparks Blaze at Key UAE Energy Site

(MENAFN) A significant fire erupted on Monday at an oil installation in the Emirate of Fujairah after a drone originating from Iran struck the facility, according to official statements.

This development is the first reported attack since the ceasefire between Iran, and the United States came into force last month.

As stated by reports, the Fujairah Media Office confirmed that the fire broke out within the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, a major energy center located along the UAE’s eastern coastline, following the drone strike.

Emergency response units were quickly deployed to the location and remain engaged in efforts to control and extinguish the flames, according to authorities.

Officials also reported that three Indian nationals sustained moderate injuries and were taken to a hospital for medical care.

The incident followed shortly after the UAE Ministry of Defense revealed that four cruise missiles had been launched from Iran toward the country, noting that most were intercepted by air defense systems.

It was further indicated that three missiles were successfully neutralized over territorial waters, while the fourth fell into the sea.
