Dr. Andrea Foebel is the Manager, Indicator Research and Development at CIHI. She leads the collaborative development of national indicators focused on seniors and long-term care. She holds a PhD in Aging, Health & Well-Being from University of Waterloo and worked with interRAI in Finland and Italy. She was a scientific consultant in the Department of Ageing & Life Course at the WHO (Geneva) and contributed to the first WHO World Report on Ageing and Health.

Before joining CIHI, she completed post-doctoral training in gerontology and genetics at Karolinska Institute, Stockholm. She was an Affiliated Researcher at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (Karolinska Institute) until 2018. She is an Adjunct Faculty member in the School of Public Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo and also an External Advisory Committee member for the School of Public Health Sciences. She continues to advise on international work on aging through the WHO Quality of Dying Measurement Working group. She continues to co-supervise graduate research students at the University of Waterloo and at CIHI through the CIHR Health System Impact Fellowship program.
