Samrat Chaudhary Named New Bihar CM, Oath Likely Tomorrow
In a major political development, BJP leader Samrat Chaudhary will be the next Chief Minister of Bihar. His name was finalised after internal discussions within the party. The swearing-in ceremony is likely to take place on Wednesday in Patna. This is the first time the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) directly will lead the Bihar government, marking a historic shift from its earlier role as a key alliance partner.

The development comes after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar resigned from his post earlier on Tuesday, ending a long tenure that shaped the state's politics for nearly two decades.
He submitted his resignation to Governor Syed Ata Hasnain at Lok Bhavan in Patna on Tuesday. In a message shared on social media, Nitish Kumar said he had decided to step down after serving the people for many years. He added that he would support and guide the new government.
The 75-year-old leader, who recently became a Rajya Sabha MP, said the new government would now take forward the work in the state.
NDA ally and Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief Upendra Kushwaha congratulated Samrat Chaudhary on social media.

He wrote that Chaudhary deserves best wishes for his 'new responsibility'. His post came while the BJP leaders' meeting was still ongoing in Patna, adding to the belief that Chaudhary's name had been finalised.
Strategic move ahead ofelections in Bihar
Samrat Chaudhary is a prominent OBC leader and currently serves as Deputy Chief Minister. His selection is seen as a strategic step by the BJP to strengthen its social base in Bihar ahead of upcoming elections.
Party sources said central observers were present in Patna to oversee the leadership transition and ensure a smooth process.
What is Samrat Chaudhary's net worth
As discussions about the new Chief Minister grow, many are also curious about Samrat Chaudhary's financial status.
According to available details, his total assets are estimated at around ₹4.85 crore. This includes both movable and immovable property.
His movable assets are worth about ₹99 lakh, which includes bank balance, cash and other items. His immovable assets, such as land and houses, are valued at around ₹3.86 crore.
Experts say that a full picture of any leader's wealth includes family assets as well, but these figures give a basic idea of his financial standing.
Major political transition in Bihar
This leadership change marks a big moment in Bihar politics. With Nitish Kumar stepping down and BJP taking direct control, the state is set to enter a new phase.
All eyes are now on the official announcement and the swearing-in ceremony, which will confirm the new leadership.
