Report Says Iran Retains Significant Drone Capabilities
(MENAFN) According to reports, US intelligence and military officials assess that Iran continues to maintain a substantial portion of its military capabilities despite weeks of joint US and Israeli strikes, preserving what they describe as a strong deterrent posture.
The assessment suggests that Iran still holds roughly 40 percent of its prewar drone arsenal and more than 60 percent of its missile launch systems. Officials cited in the report said over 100 launcher systems, previously hidden in fortified locations such as caves and bunkers, have been recovered since the start of a recent ceasefire period, indicating ongoing efforts to restore operational capacity.
They also stated that Iran is attempting to recover missiles that were buried under debris following strikes on storage depots and underground facilities. Some estimates indicate that once recovery operations are complete, Iran could regain a large share of its prewar stockpile.
Despite reported damage to parts of its weapons production infrastructure, US officials believe Iran still possesses sufficient capability to threaten maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz if tensions escalate again.
