The participants expressed deep concern over the increasing strain in Pak-Afghan relations, calling it a threat not only to the two countries but to the peace of the entire region. Speakers stated that rising tensions are creating instability, making immediate and effective measures necessary.
The jirga emphasized that Pakistan and Afghanistan should resolve all their issues through dialogue and negotiations rather than conflict or use of force.

According to the speakers, wars and clashes do not solve problems; instead, they increase the difficulties faced by ordinary people.
Participants unanimously demanded an immediate end to all forms of tension and any potential war situation between the two countries. They urged prompt steps to normalize the situation so that the hardships faced by people in border areas could be reduced.
The jirga also stressed the need to immediately reopen the Pak-Afghan border for trade and movement. Participants noted that the closure of the border has severely affected businesses, putting the livelihoods of thousands at risk and negatively impacting the economy.
Speakers also highlighted that Pakistan and Afghanistan are brotherly neighboring countries, and people on both sides of the border share common religious, cultural, and social values. They said these historical ties are strong, and therefore the ongoing tensions are a cause of serious concern for the public.
According to the organizers, the purpose of the meeting was to bring together different segments of society on one platform to present practical proposals for peace through mutual consultation and wise decision-making.
At the conclusion of the jirga, it was reaffirmed that such dialogues would continue to promote peace, stability, and mutual respect in the region, and to strengthen long-term positive relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Participants emphasized that whether in times of war or peace, both countries should promote mutual trade, as it is key to regional prosperity and public welfare.
The jirga was held at the Area Study Centre of the University of Peshawar. It was organized by the non-governmental organization Aspire and the National Reform Movement, while former Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Arbab Shahzad, hosted the event.
A large number of political leaders and workers, tribal elders, religious figures, social activists, and representatives of civil society attended the jirga.
