Israel Says New Wave Of Airstrikes On Iran Has Begun

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Israel's military said a new wave of airstrikes against Iran began early Monday, targeting what it described as government infrastructure across Tehran as the conflict entered a more dangerous phase.

The Israeli military said the attacks started before dawn and were focused on strategic state-linked sites in and around the Iranian capital. The announcement followed a series of warnings and evacuation alerts issued to civilians in several districts before the strikes.

Iranian officials said a day earlier that recent Israeli and U.S. attacks had also struck university-related facilities, deepening fears that civilian and academic infrastructure is increasingly being caught up in the war. Those claims have added to growing concern over the widening scope of the air campaign.

On Sunday, around 10 people were reported killed in an airstrike on Tehran, including six members of an Afghan family, according to local reports and humanitarian accounts. The incident highlighted the growing toll on civilians, including migrant and refugee communities living in the Iranian capital.

The latest strikes come as both Israel and the United States appear to be widening pressure on Iran through sustained military operations and threats against strategic infrastructure. Tehran has warned that continued attacks on urban areas and civilian-linked sites could provoke broader retaliation.

The war has already moved beyond traditional military fronts, with attacks now affecting universities, industrial zones, transport facilities and energy infrastructure. Analysts say this shift reflects an effort to weaken not only Iran's military capacity, but also the wider systems that support state resilience.

At the same time, international concern is rising over the humanitarian consequences of repeated strikes in densely populated areas. Rights groups and aid organizations have warned that continued attacks in Tehran and other major cities are increasing the risk of further civilian deaths and displacement.

Overall, the new Israeli air campaign suggests the conflict is entering another intense stage, with Tehran once again under direct pressure and civilians facing growing uncertainty amid an increasingly unpredictable war.
