Russian Army Plane Crashes in Crimea, Twenty-Nine Killed
(MENAFN) A Russian military aircraft crashed over the Crimean Peninsula on Wednesday, killing all 29 people on board, according to reports citing the Russian Defense Ministry.
The ministry stated that the An-26 transport plane carried 23 passengers and six crew members. “During a scheduled flight over the Crimean peninsula on March 31 at around 6:00 PM Moscow time (1500 GMT), communication with the An-26 military transport aircraft was lost,” the statement said.
Search and rescue teams later located the crash site, confirming that there were no survivors. A ministry commission is investigating the incident on-site. No signs of external impact were found, and preliminary findings suggest a technical malfunction caused the crash, according to reports.
