Netanyahu Pledges to Press on Against Iran with “Plan Full of Surprises”

(MENAFN) Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, said on Saturday that the military campaign against Iran will continue, asserting that Israel possesses “a plan full of surprises” aimed at weakening the leadership in Tehran.

During a press briefing, Netanyahu stated that Israeli forces are pursuing the conflict with full intensity.

“Israel has changed the face of the Middle East as promised after the events of Oct. 7, and it has also changed itself,” he said.

He also argued that his leadership has involved making difficult and risky decisions intended to confront what he described as threats to Israel.

The latest tensions come after the Oct. 7, 2023 attack launched by Hamas and other Palestinian factions, known as the Al-Aqsa Flood operation. During the assault, fighters targeted 11 Israeli military bases and 22 settlements, saying the operation was meant to break the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip and counter what they described as efforts to erase the Palestinian cause.

Following the attack, authorities in Tel Aviv launched a large-scale military campaign against Gaza that lasted for two years. Although a ceasefire agreement was reached in October 2025, reports indicate that Israeli forces have continued to violate the truce through bombardment and gunfire since it took effect.

Regional tensions have escalated further since Feb. 28, when Israel and the United States began conducting attacks on Iran. According to reports, the strikes killed hundreds of people, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several senior security officials. Tehran has responded with repeated launches of missiles and drones targeting Israel.

Iran has also directed missile and drone attacks at American-related sites in Gulf countries and Jordan. Some of the strikes resulted in casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, prompting strong criticism from several Arab governments that called for the attacks to stop.

Earlier on Saturday, Iran’s president Masoud Pezeshkian said his country would refrain from targeting neighboring states unless attacks against Iran were launched from their territories.

However, reports later indicated that strikes resumed against Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates and Iraq.
