Türkiye Refutes Backing for US-Israel Strikes on Iran
(MENAFN) Türkiye on Saturday rejected social media claims suggesting it backed the joint US-Israel attacks on Iran, labeling such posts as disinformation.
“Claims circulating on certain social media platforms that Türkiye has supported the recent attacks against Iran are entirely unfounded and constitute disinformation aimed at misleading the public,” said Türkiye’s Center for Combating Disinformation on the platform NSosyal.
The center emphasized that Türkiye “does not permit any of its air, land, or maritime assets, including its airspace, to be used for operational purposes in any conflict or war to which it is not a party,” in line with the country’s foreign and security policy principles. It further stressed that Türkiye’s sovereign rights over airspace, land, and maritime zones are “full and indisputable,” with all activities in these areas conducted according to national security assessments under competent authority supervision.
Earlier, the center also dismissed social media claims alleging illegal crossings from the Iranian border. It stated that “the images are old footage of unknown time and place; it has been determined that they were deliberately circulated again following recent regional developments.” The agency added there is no verified connection between the footage and Türkiye’s border, warning that such posts aim to create a negative perception of border security.
“Türkiye’s border security is maintained uninterruptedly on a 24/7 basis through multi-layered systems,” the statement noted, urging the public to rely only on official sources and to disregard unfounded claims.
