Jordan Intercepts Drones, Missiles Targeting Its Territory
(MENAFN) A senior military official at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said on Saturday that its forces successfully intercepted 49 drones and ballistic missiles targeting Jordanian territory, as stated by reports.
The official highlighted that Jordanian air defence systems neutralised 13 ballistic missiles, while several drones were dealt with through targeted military engagement. The operations caused only material damage, with no human casualties reported, according to a JAF statement.
The JAF source urged citizens to rely exclusively on accredited official channels for information and warned against spreading unverified videos or reports that could raise public concern. He also emphasized the importance of cooperating with authorities and promptly reporting any suspicious objects.
The Public Security Directorate (PSD) added that Civil Defence and police teams responded to 54 reports of fallen objects and debris across several governorates between Saturday morning and 7:00 pm. Incidents were recorded in Amman, Zarqa, Jerash, Madaba, Irbid, and West Balqa, causing only material damage with no injuries, according to the PSD.
Authorities urged residents to follow official instructions and report suspicious items through the unified emergency number, 911, stressing the serious risks associated with handling such objects.
