Tesla Reports Decline in 2025 Revenue, Net income

(MENAFN) American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla disclosed declining revenue and sharply reduced profitability for 2025 in its Wednesday earnings release.

The automaker's total revenue for 2025 came in at 94.83 billion U.S. dollars, representing a 3 percent year-over-year contraction, while net income calculated under generally accepted accounting principles plummeted 46 percent to 3.79 billion dollars.

Tesla shipped approximately 1.64 million vehicles worldwide throughout 2025, marking back-to-back annual delivery decreases. The company lost its global electric vehicle sales crown for the first time to Chinese competitor BYD.

Fourth-quarter deliveries totaled 418,227 vehicles, sliding 16 percent compared to the same period the previous year. Quarterly revenue declined 3 percent year-over-year to 24.9 billion dollars, while net income collapsed 61 percent year-over-year to 840 million dollars.

According to the filing, Tesla sustained its 2025 strategic pivot away from hardware-focused operations toward becoming a "physical AI" company. For 2026, the manufacturer intends to accelerate investment in "the infrastructure needed to support clean energy and transport and autonomous robots."

Tesla announced plans to debut the Gen 3 iteration of its humanoid robot Optimus during the first quarter of this year. The company is currently establishing its inaugural production facility, with manufacturing operations slated to commence before 2026 concludes and ultimate production capacity targeting 1 million robots annually.
