Trump reaffirms full control over Greenland’s talks

(MENAFN) The US president said Washington is on track to secure all of its objectives regarding Greenland following agreement on a preliminary framework earlier in the week, according to reports.

Speaking about ongoing discussions, Donald Trump expressed confidence in the outcome, stating: "We’ll have everything we want. We have some interesting talks going on."

He suggested that US control over certain parts of Greenland could be achieved through taking ownership of locations where American military facilities are already based, indicating this as a possible path toward expanded authority over the territory.

Reports noted that Trump moderated his language on acquiring the Danish-controlled island after meeting NATO’s secretary general in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday.

During that meeting, he said the two sides discussed a framework arrangement related to Greenland that would respond to US security concerns and address what he described as growing Russian and Chinese influence in the region.
