CCI Pays Rs 8.89 Crore Dividend To Government For FY25

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Jan 22 (KNN) The Cotton Corporation of India Ltd. (CCI), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Textiles, has given a dividend cheque of Rs 8.89 crore for the financial year 2024–25.

The cheque was handed over by CCI Chairman and Managing Director Lalit Kumar Gupta to Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh at a function held in New Delhi.

The Minister commended CCI's performance and underscored the importance of sustained growth, operational efficiency, transparency and innovation in strengthening India's cotton and textile value chain.

He highlighted the corporation's role in ensuring remunerative prices for cotton farmers through Minimum Support Price (MSP) operations, while contributing to stability in the domestic cotton market.

Reviewing the corporation's performance, the Secretary, Textiles Neelam Shami Rao appreciated the efforts of CCI's management and workforce, and reiterated the Ministry's support in helping the organisation achieve future milestones and enhance the global competitiveness of India's textile sector.

She also noted CCI's central role in scaling certified cotton production in the country, with the corporation accounting for nearly 97 per cent of Kasturi Cotton Bharat production during the year.

During FY 2024–25, CCI recorded a turnover of Rs 20,009 crore, among the highest in its history. The dividend payout reflects the corporation's financial strength, operational efficiency and continued contribution to the exchequer, alongside its mandate of safeguarding farmers' interests and maintaining market equilibrium.

As part of efforts to strengthen MSP procurement and farmer outreach, CCI expanded its procurement network to 571 centres across 150 cotton-growing districts, up from 508 centres in the previous season.

Liberalised norms for opening procurement centres improved last-mile access, particularly for small and marginal farmers, while reducing transportation costs and waiting times.

Farmer engagement under MSP operations was further supported through the Kapas Kisan Mobile App, which has over 46 lakh registered farmers. The platform enables self-registration, advance slot booking, Aadhaar-linked payments and real-time updates, contributing to a more transparent and paperless procurement process.

Procurement operations were monitored through Local Monitoring Committees at APMCs, supported by helplines and digital grievance redress mechanisms, along with extensive awareness campaigns.

CCI also advanced digital transformation and traceability initiatives during the year. The corporation achieved 100 per cent traceability of cotton bales through its blockchain-based Bale Identification and Traceability System, enabling end-to-end tracking using QR codes.

On the buyer side, CCI enhanced ease of doing business through CotBiz, its online cotton seed and bale billing platform, which facilitates faceless e-auctions, digital contracts, invoicing and gate passes integrated with the corporation's ERP system.
