France Expected to Hold General Election
(MENAFN) France stands on the brink of yet another political upheaval, with authorities now actively planning for snap general elections that could materialize within months amid mounting turmoil in the National Assembly.
Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu has directed Interior Minister Laurent Nunez to begin logistical preparations for a possible nationwide vote, potentially synchronized with municipal elections slated for March 15-22.
The contingency planning follows the submission of no-confidence motions by opposition forces, notably France Unbowed (LFI) and the National Rally, targeting Lecornu's administration.
Should these measures succeed in parliament, the National Assembly would face dissolution, automatically triggering an early electoral contest.
