Erdogan, Saudi crown prince hold phone call on region developments

(MENAFN) President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday that Türkiye is “closely” monitoring developments in Yemen and Somalia, underlining the need to preserve stability and safeguard the territorial integrity of both countries, according to reports.

The remarks came during a phone conversation between Erdogan and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in which the two leaders exchanged views on bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments.

During the call, Erdogan signaled Türkiye’s willingness to play a constructive role in Yemen, saying Ankara is prepared to help bring together parties involved in the conflict in support of dialogue and de-escalation.

He also noted that Türkiye intends to deepen cooperation with Saudi Arabia, indicating that additional steps are planned in the near future to further strengthen relations between the two countries.

Turning to Gaza, Erdogan warned that the humanitarian situation is deteriorating as winter sets in. He said Türkiye continues its efforts toward achieving a permanent ceasefire and supporting reconstruction in the war-devastated territory.
