NSO Publishes First-Ever User Guide For Annual Survey Of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Jan 2 (KNN) The National Statistics Office (NSO), under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, has released Know Your Survey: A User Guide to the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE), its first publication specifically designed for data users.

The initiative aims to enhance transparency and promote informed use of ASUSE data by explaining survey processes in a clear and accessible manner.

The guide presents key aspects of ASUSE, including survey concepts, coverage and methodology, and outlines the practices followed in data collection, processing, validation and estimation, along with the quality assurance framework.

It is intended to help users better understand the structure and limitations of the data, supporting more accurate interpretation and application in policy analysis, research and public discourse.

ASUSE is a principal source of official statistics on India's unincorporated non-agricultural sector, which plays a significant role in employment generation, livelihood support and economic output, while also serving as an important link in domestic value chains.

Given the scale and diversity of the sector, the NSO has emphasised the need for clarity on survey design and methodology to enable meaningful use of the data.

The publication is targeted at a broad range of stakeholders, including central and state government departments, policymakers, researchers, academicians, industry representatives and the general public.

Its development aligns with international best practices followed by national statistical systems to improve communication on survey design, processes and outputs.

The guide also includes a dedicated section for survey respondents, addressing common questions and concerns related to field investigations, survey objectives and data confidentiality.

By clarifying procedures and safeguards, the NSO aims to strengthen respondent confidence and encourage cooperation during surveys.

According to the NSO, the release of the user guide represents a proactive step towards improved outreach, stronger stakeholder engagement and enhanced public trust in official statistics.
