NITI Aayog, Negd Sign Mou To Strengthen India's Digital Governance Framework
The agreement aims to advance the vision of a digitally empowered, future-ready India by bridging the gap between policy formulation and on-ground implementation.
Boosting Institutional Collaboration
The partnership brings together NITI Aayog's policy expertise and NeGD's technical capabilities as the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology's (MeitY) implementation arm.
Officials said the collaboration will enhance institutional coordination, reduce silos and enable faster, more efficient rollout of digital initiatives across sectors at both the central and state levels.
Key Focus Areas
Under the MoU, the two institutions will collaborate across several priority areas. These include strengthening AI-driven governance by enhancing artificial intelligence capabilities within the VBSR for real-time policy monitoring, predictive analytics and data-driven decision-making.
The partnership will also focus on reinforcing Digital Public Infrastructure platforms such as DigiLocker, UMANG and API Setu, aligning them with NITI Aayog's 'NITI for States' initiative to improve interoperability and service delivery.
The agreement further provides for institutional resource sharing, including IT frameworks, digital tools and technical expertise, as well as capacity-building programmes to enhance digital literacy and evidence-based governance among government officials.
Experts noted that the partnership could significantly reduce the lead time for launching new digital initiatives while improving coordination between policy and execution.
