Four Dead, Six Injured in Afghanistan Landslide

(MENAFN) A deadly landslide claimed four lives and left six injured after tearing through a residential structure in Afghanistan's Kapisa province late Friday night, authorities confirmed Saturday.

Abdul Fatah Faiz, the provincial police spokesman, reported the catastrophic incident took place in Shukhi village on the outskirts of Mahmud-e-Raqi, the province's administrative center. The official did not disclose additional information about the casualties or rescue operations.

The tragedy highlights ongoing risks facing rural communities across Afghanistan, where traditional construction methods leave residents dangerously exposed to natural disasters. Mud-brick dwellings—the predominant housing type throughout the country's countryside—offer minimal protection against landslides, heavy rainfall, and winter snowstorms, frequently leading to fatalities and widespread property destruction.
