Dubai Ruler Announces Great Arab Minds Winner In Medicine, Hails Research In Heart Health
Dubai's Ruler announced the winner of the Great Arab Minds award in the medicine category for 2025.
Hailing from Egypt, Dr Nabil Seidah, who is the Director of the Neuroendocrine Research Unit at the Montreal Clinical Research Institute, won the award.

His work has contributed to the development of a new generation of medications that are widely used today to lower cholesterol and reduce the risks of heart disease.
He has published more than 820 scientific papers, and his research has been cited more than 71,000 times.
"Medicine is a humanitarian mission, and our region has played a great role, over centuries, in developing its sciences, practices, tools, and research. The Great Arab Minds Award redirects the compass to its rightful path, to celebrate what the Arab individual offers and to present him as a role model for generations," said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
Now in its third edition, the Great Arab Minds initiative is the largest of its kind in the Arab world and has become known as the 'Arab Nobel', dedicated to honouring exceptional thinkers and innovators. This recognition is reinforced by the fact that the winner of this category in the 2024 edition, Professor Omar Yaghi, also went on to win the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
