Two Moscow police officers die in explosion during arrest attempt


(MENAFN) Russian authorities reported on Wednesday that two police officers were killed in an explosion while attempting to detain a suspicious individual in Moscow.

According to preliminary findings, the officers, who were part of a traffic patrol, noticed a suspicious person near their patrol car on Yeltskaya Street late Tuesday. When they approached to make the arrest, an explosive device detonated, instantly killing both officers and the suspect.

Investigators and forensic experts have opened an inquiry at the scene to determine the cause of the blast and gather further evidence. Officials have not yet released additional details about the suspect or the type of explosive device used.
