UDST Achieves International Success At World Interuniversities Championships In Spain
Doha, Qatar: University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) represented Qatar at the 10th World InterUniversities Championships in Barcelona, Spain.
Competing against over 5,000 athletes from top universities worldwide, UDST participated in male football, male badminton, male swimming, male track, and female volleyball, demonstrating the university's commitment to excellence in both academics and athletics.
UDST concluded the championships with an impressive total of seven medals, including two Gold, three Silver, and two Bronze.
This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication, talent, and competitive spirit of the university's student-athletes, and underscores UDST's ability to excel on the international stage across multiple sports.
The athletes delivered remarkable performances; Muhammad Gayuh Wijaya secured the Gold Medal in Men's Singles Badminton, helping the badminton team achieve third place overall.
In track, Jamal Hairane finished fifth in the 800-meter run, reflecting his strong international competitiveness. The swimming team also excelled, finishing first in the men's competition and third overall.
The relay team, consisting of Abdullah Elghamry, Abdallah Alkhaldi, Ahmed Diab, and Youssef Gamea, won Gold in the 4x50 Medley Relay.
Abdallah Alkhaldi earned a Silver Medal in the 50-meter butterfly, while Ahmed Diab captured Silver in the 50-meter breaststroke. Abdullah Elghamry took Silver in the 50-meter backstroke. Youssef Gamea earned Bronze in the 50-meter freestyle, and Ahmed Diab added a Bronze Medal in the 200-meter medley.
