Dubai Metro Blue Line Route Map Number Of Elevated, Underground Stations Revealed

Dubai Metro Blue Line will have 5 elevated stations, 4 underground stations, 4 "future elevated stations" and one underground interchange station, the Roads and Transport Authority said.

The network will consist of 14.5km above ground, and 15.5km underground, with a capacity of over 350,000 passengers daily.

Linking the Red Line and the Green Line, the announcement of the new Metro line was a major milestone in Dubai's transport chapter. Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum placed the foundation stone of the Blue Line in June, and the first station was unveiled.

As of November 2025, 10 per cent of construction work has been completed, in just five months.

Where will the stations pass through?

It was earlier revealed that the first route, with 10 stations, starts from the Green Line's Creek station, and passes through Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek Harbour, Ras Al Khor, before reaching International City 1, which includes an underground interchange station. The route continues towards International City 2 and 3, extending to Dubai Silicon Oasis and up to Academic City.

The second route, with four stations, starts at Red Line's Centrepoint station, passes through Mirdif and Al Warqa, concluding at International City 1 Interchange Station.

The exterior design of the elevated stations was inspired by the shape of a seashell, while the interior design of the stations reflects seven thematic models: Heritage, Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.

First station design

The first station, named Emaar Properties, was designed by none other than the creative minds behind the world's tallest tower, Burj Khalifa. The renowned American architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) have also designed the Olympic Tower in New York, and the Sears Tower in Chicago.

Standing at a height of 74 metres (242 ft), the station has 3 levels, and will be the world's highest metro station. The current design has towering walls that reach to the skies, while retaining the typical metro terminal arch. Sunlight can stream into the platform through strategically placed glass panels.

Impact on communities

So far, road diversions have been announced in multiple parts of the emirate, as Dubai races towards completion of the Metro Blue Line.

Proximity to this major mode of transport has also become a defining factor for communities, with rents shooting up in areas close to the new Metro line.

The metro line is expected to decrease traffic congestion on its served routes by 20 per cent. By 2029, an estimated 50,000 university students from Academic City are anticipated to use the Blue Line.
