Emma Kennedy
- Assistant Professor of Christian Ethics, Villanova University
I am a professor of Christian ethics with specialties in bioethics, healthcare ethics, and social issues. I use qualitative methodologies to understand how US Catholic women make reproductive healthcare decisions, specifically regarding infertility and its treatment. I've written about egg freezing, IVF, prenatal testing, surrogacy and gene editing. I also study how religious groups understand issues of scientific progress historically and in the present day; forthcoming research focuses on the early 20th century eugenics movement and varied Christian responses to it.
I teach courses on healthcare ethics; race, gender, and disability ethics; contemplative practice and social action; and qualitative methods (especially interviewing).
