KP Chief Minister Hands Over Advanced Weapons, Bulletproof Vehicles To Peshawar Police
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi visited Police Lines Peshawar, where he formally handed over a range of advanced weapons, security equipment, and bulletproof vehicles to the provincial police force, aimed at strengthening their operational capacity amid rising security challenges.
During the ceremony, police were provided with drone cameras, anti-drone guns, anti-drone systems, thermal cameras, jammers, bulletproof jackets, ballistic helmets, and armored vehicles. The force also received sniper rifles, Dragunov rifles, M-16s, sub-machine guns, and heavy machine guns.
According to the official briefing, thermal weapon sights and thermal binoculars will significantly enhance night surveillance capabilities, while bulletproof hulls, reinforced vehicles, and side armoring will ensure safer movement of police personnel in high-risk areas.

He emphasized that the provincial government is determined to make the police an“impregnable force” and that more modern weapons and equipment will be provided in the future.
He added that the province remained largely peaceful from 2018 to 2022, but security conditions deteriorated afterward.“When we talk about 80,000 martyrs, police and other security force personnel are also included in these sacrifices,” the chief minister said.
Sohail Afridi reaffirmed that peace will not only be restored but also sustained, stressing that policies developed through consultation with all stakeholders would prove durable. He paid tribute to the services of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and the police, acknowledging that sacrifices made by the army, Frontier Corps, and other institutions were key to maintaining peace between 2018 and 2022.
He concluded by saying that although terrorism has posed serious challenges since 2022, the current initiative reflects the government's seriousness, adding that the provincial government, in coordination with the federal government, will formulate a long-term policy to ensure lasting peace in the province.
