Zelensky Announces Cooperation With Partners To Strengthen Air Defense
He reminded that work is still ongoing after the nighttime missile and drone strike by Russian troops. It was a large-scale attack, mainly targeting energy facilities.
"Russia is not changing its tactics here and is still trying to inflict such pain on Ukraine before winter. It is important that we are fighting back. It is important that there are shootdowns," Zelensky emphasized.
According to him, this time, air defense forces destroyed 19 enemy missiles, including ballistic missiles, and nearly 560 drones, more than half of which were Shahed-type kamikaze drones.
At the same time, not all targets were successfully shot down. That is why, according to Zelensky, work on strengthening air defense is the number one priority.
"This task is extremely difficult and extremely expensive for Ukraine and its partners. No country could do this on its own, but we are providing Ukraine with missiles for air defense and are constantly increasing our fleet of various types of air defense systems. We are preparing to work with our partners next week, including to improve the quality of our air defense, and we are counting on the support of our partners," the head of state said.
