Israeli strikes, demolitions continue in Gaza amid truce

(MENAFN) The Israeli army carried out airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, with ongoing home demolitions reported despite a ceasefire, local sources said.

Witnesses in Gaza City’s Al-Tuffah neighborhood, located within the Israeli-controlled yellow zone, described explosions striking residential buildings. In southern Gaza, similar attacks and demolition operations were reported in Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Younis, accompanied by heavy gunfire from Israeli helicopters and machinery. No immediate reports of casualties were available.

For weeks, the yellow zone—a large area under Israeli control—has been subjected to daily strikes targeting residential buildings. Palestinians have been largely barred from entering the zone, with Israeli forces reportedly opening fire on anyone approaching under security pretexts.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that at least 347 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 900 injured by Israeli army fire since the ceasefire began. Since October 2023, nearly 70,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed and over 170,900 injured in the ongoing conflict that has left much of the enclave in ruins.
