(MENAFN) Turkish Airlines is this week hosting the World Financial Symposium (WFS) and World Passenger Symposium (WPS) in Istanbul, organized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The two-day event, which began Wednesday, serves as a platform where airline finance, retailing, and passenger experience converge, providing opportunities for strategic discussions, actionable insights, and innovative solutions. Last year, the 2024 edition attracted 1,241 delegates in Bangkok, Thailand.
At the opening ceremony, Turkish Airlines CEO Ahmet Bolat emphasized the aviation industry’s role in connecting people, shortening distances, supporting trade, and fulfilling dreams. He noted, "Turkish Airlines is connecting the world, building bridges between continents and servicing as a flag carrier for over 90 years." Bolat also highlighted the sector’s adaptation to evolving passenger expectations and its accelerated focus on digitalization and sustainability.
Themed “Destination: Transformation,” the symposiums cover topics including digital payment systems, passenger experience innovations, and modern airline retailing. Sessions aim to explore solutions ranging from digital euros to collaborations with payment partners.
Participants include companies showcasing products and services, spanning booking platforms to payment solutions such as Worldpay and Travelport.
