Kuwait Affirms Support For Global Efforts To Protect Environment During War

KUWAIT, Nov 6 (KUNA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait's full solidarity with international efforts aimed at protecting the environment during wars and armed conflicts.
In a statement marking the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict, observed annually on November 6 under UN General Assembly Resolution 56/4 - a resolution proposed by the State of Kuwait in 2001 - the Ministry underscored the importance of ensuring accountability for violations committed against ecosystems during armed conflicts.
The Ministry also stressed the need to uphold international law, which provides protection for the environment before, during, and after armed conflicts. (end)
